I highly recommend Cancun, Mexico Beaches to any and everyone that loves sun & sand and true, unmatched emerald, turquoise blue beauty! I just had a wonderful trip with my BFF from 5th grade. What a refreshing gift. I owe her my sanity! What a wonderful way to start 2015!
If you are blessed to do so, make sure to visit Isla Mujeres and any of the Mayan Ruins - there are several locations - we visited Tulum and it was built on the Gulf! Breathtaking and amazing history! The marketplace has a Starbucks, (which was very much appreciated after the hike up and down from the Ruins) and haagen-dazs and also a nice restaurant with the best chicken pesto bacon flatbread hearthbaked pizza! There were traditionally dressed Mayan guys all painted up with huge colorful live iguanas and also a group of guys dressed up in fancy, bright, traditional costume that hung upside down on ropes and swung around a high pole - cool and amazing! Also, my friend got to bottlefeed a baby lion cub - a highlight of her life, I'm pretty sure....it was the sweetest little thing I've ever seen! My friend recommends the Chichen Itza Ruins in Yucatan. She really enjoyed the history.
We stayed at a timeshare called the Royal Carribean. Beautiful grounds, great food and restaurants, great Happy Hours from 3 til dark at the swim-up pool bar and inside the sports bar. Karaoke Sunday & Thursday nights.
Ohhhhhh, I am having Gulfview withdrawal. I will strive to live beachfront, someday! Having lived on the panhandle of FL for 10 years and having had a taste of this good life & good view makes me homesick a bit when I saw the colors of Cancun! I have to say, as beautiful as Panama City Beach to Fort Walton Beaches are in Florida, something a little More vivid.... bluer, greener and more turquoise in Mexico just jumps out at you and will leave you longing for more! I found my favorite color and it is in the Gulf of Mexico between Cancun and Isla Mujeres.
I have fallen in love! Fun, festive atmosphere & family oriented too.
I would love to take my children back with me, as I saw many families there enjoying this beautiful part of the country!
Riding the city bus was actually a bit of an adventure and a very affordable way to get around. Dinner at Cambalache Argentinian Steakhouse was the best flank steak dinner, creamed spinach I've ever tasted, melted in my mouth. The caramel flan was a new texture experience for me also but delicious!
Oh it looks so beautiful, I just love your photos!
ReplyDeleteLove this! So jealous! Maybe the 4 of us and go away together one day!

ReplyDeleteI have never been to Cancun or Mexico period, but it sure does sound like a trip we need to take soon, the pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWith all the snow that is on the ground right now I would love to be in Cancun right now. Sitting on a beach with a cocktail in my hand and not a worry in the world.
